Gallbladder torsion with gangrenous cholecystitis: a case report

چکیده

Abstract A woman in her nineties presented with a 7-day history of right upper quadrant pain, nausea and anorexia. Examination findings included tenderness the positive Murphy’s sign. Laboratory studies were unremarkable normal white cell count, C-reactive protein liver functions tests. Ultrasound abdomen, however, demonstrated distended gallbladder containing sludge thickened wall. The patient’s symptoms worsened associated elevation inflammatory markers despite initial treatment intravenous antibiotics for 24 h. It was decided to proceed laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Intraoperatively, 360° clockwise torsion gangrenous on an elongated mesentery noted. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy completed without complication patient discharged home after completion course antibiotics. Histopathological examination acute cholecystitis extensive mural necrosis.
